Again, this year, SPARK, the Education Foundation for Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS), spent time collecting, organizing, and stuffing backpacks full of school supplies for PWCS students!
SPARK filled 600 backpacks with pencils, crayons, scissors, highlighters, notebooks, and more. These backpacks will be distributed to students in need at three Title I Elementary Schools. This is twice as many backpacks as SPARK was able to donate last year.
In addition, this year, backpacks and supplies were accepted as outside donations from community partners, and these organizations showed up in force!
Thanks to Apple Federal Credit Union, Beauty Mafia LLC, Chick-Fil-A, Daisy Troop 90139, The National Coalition of 100 Black Women - Prince William County Chapter, Prince William County Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism, Sentara, Skate N Fun Zone, Surveying and Mapping, LLC, SPARK was able to collect thousands of school supplies that were distributed to schools at all levels, from elementary to high school. These donations included more than 600 notebooks, more than 30 additional filled backpacks, hundreds of crayons, markers, and colored pencils, and thousands of wooden and mechanical pencils.
SPARK greatly appreciates the cooperation of outside donors, and internal communications and services, for helping to kick-start the new school year with so many supplies making it into the hands of our students!
