Help Continue Her Legacy of Helping
Dr. Renée Lacey dedicated herself and her career to helping students. She enabled them to overcome adversity and find their paths toward success. When obstacles stood between students and high school graduation, Dr. Lacey led efforts that over the years enabled thousands of summer program participants to surmount the barriers, sharpen their skills, and to earn the diplomas that opened doors to endless possibilities.
Dr. Lacey’s sudden and unexpected death in July 2017 left an unfillable void, and a question that can be answered. How can family, friends, colleagues, and those she assisted, extend Dr. Lacey’s legacy of helping? The PWCS Department of Student Learning and Accountability, Office of Student Services, and the SPARK Educational Foundation are responding by establishing the Dr. Renée H. Lacey Scholarship Fund.
Depending on the generosity of donors, financial awards will be given annually to one or more graduates of the PWCS summer school program who plan to pursue higher education within a year of receiving their high school diploma. A committee of Dr. Lacey’s colleagues and family members will select recipients based on each applicant’s submission of an essay detailing how he or she personally overcame adversity to graduate and continue his or her educational journey.
This is a chance for family, friends, colleagues, former students, fellow church members, and all caring people to extend Dr. Lacey’s legacy of helping for years to come. Today’s donations are the seeds of tomorrow’s student successes.
